Norwegian AS

What is a Norwegian AS?

The traditional business structure in Norway is an AS, which provides you with better social rights, increased security, and lower taxes. It’s what’s known as a limited liability company, a well-known corporate structure that offers you, the owner, limited risk and significant tax advantages. Investment companies should use equity companies with this type of formation because they are exempt from paying taxes on dividends received from other businesses or gains from the sale of shares.

It is well known that stock companies that use this corporate form are one of the best registration types in the business sector, making it simpler to obtain loans for operations and investments as well as investor capital.

An auditor and at least NOK 30,000 in startup capital are necessary for a Norwegian AS. This is the kind of form to choose if the business needs a significant amount of capital or if you think it’s important to have an annual audit of your accounts. Although the costs of an AS can be higher due to the initial share capital and auditor requirement, the advantages of an AS and a NUF are very similar. Therefore, deciding between an AS and a NUF is more a matter of taste.

The auditor’s duty for an AS has been removed. For the time being, however, the auditor must still confirm the opening balance. You can choose the auditor yourself from our catalog of auditors from all over Norway, and you have to cover your own auditor’s fee. In addition, NOK 5570 fee has to be paid to the Brønnøysund Register Center.
